My passion to establish Wilfred Healthcare Foundation (WHF) began in 2015 after I encountered a man from Mbamnga who had been diagnosed with Rifampicin-Resistant Tuberculosis (RR-TB). He had to undergo an eight-month injectable treatment regimen after his drug-sensitive tuberculosis (DS-TB) was poorly managed.
Watching him endure the physical pain, emotional trauma, and financial burden of such a difficult treatment left a lasting impression on me. I kept asking myself: What if his DS-TB had been diagnosed and managed correctly from the beginning? Perhaps he would never have progressed to drug-resistant TB or suffered through such a challenging treatment.
That experience ignited a lifelong mission in me. I realized that many people living in remote and hard-to-reach communities face similar challenges. They often lack access to accurate health information, quality healthcare services, early diagnosis, and qualified health professionals. As a result, many preventable illnesses become life-threatening simply because people do not know what to do or cannot access the right care at the right time.
I came to understand that saving lives begins with the right information, while effective disease management requires qualified healthcare personnel, strong community engagement, and collaboration among all stakeholders.
This inspired me to establish Wilfred Healthcare Foundation as a bridge between underserved communities and quality healthcare. Our mission is to raise awareness, promote disease prevention, support early diagnosis and treatment, strengthen community health systems, and ensure that vulnerable populations receive the care they deserve.
Today, WHF is committed to reaching the unreached, empowering communities with life-saving health education, and partnering with government agencies, healthcare providers, and development partners to build healthier communities where no one is left behind.
